Ambient Artificial Intelligence Scribes to Alleviate the Burden of Clinical Documentation
Physicians are increasingly burdened with medical documentation, impacting patient interactions and contributing to burnout. To combat this issue, the Permanente Medical Group introduced ambient AI scribes that use smartphone microphones to transcribe real-time conversations without recording audio.
These AI tools have been used by 3,442 physicians and more than 300,000 patient visits. Physicians provided favourable feedback, indicating improved patient interactions and reduced administrative work. Continuous advancements are necessary to increase accuracy and the dynamic of a physician-patient relationship.

BrainX Community Live! July 2024: Foundation model applications in Pathology
Live session featuring a presentation by Dmitry Nechaev, Chief AI Scientist at HistAI (https://www.hist.ai), on the development of a family of foundation models for digital pathology called Hibou. The models are trained on large datasets of pathology images and can be used to predict diagnoses, segment tumors, and more. The models are available through HistAI’s platform, CDx. This event was moderated by Dr. Rama Gullapalli, Associate Professor, Department of Pathology, University of New Mexico (UNM).
Datasets
CTO Dataset: A Clinical Trial Outcome Benchmark
The largest trial outcome dataset with around 479K clinical trials, aggregating outcomes from multiple sources of weakly supervised labels, minimizing the noise from individual sources, and eliminating the need for human annotation.
World Health Organization Data Collections
The World Health Organization manages and maintains a wide range of data collections related to global health and well-being as mandated by the Member States.
